Rick Riordan-
Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard Book 3: The Ship of the Dead

Magnus Chase wanted to delay Loki, an evil yet powerful god, from starting Ragnarok, an inevitable end-of-the-world battle. However, Magnus is running out of time and needs to act fast, finding a closely-guarded drink that will allow Magnus to beat Loki in a combat of insults, by giving him fluentness of his tongue. So, Magnus and his closest friends, Sam, Alex, Blitz, Hearth, T.J., Halfborn and Mallory, help Magnus find the drink without being killed by giants. Then they must reach Loki without getting frozen to death, and insult Loki in such a way it beats Loki's own sly and clever tongue. I think the theme of this Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard Book 3: The Ship of the Dead is, when friends help each other achievement often is possible. I would rate this book 10/10. People sometimes say sequels are bad, but this series is amazing, there are so many different concepts from Norse mythology, which is really cool along with the voice of a cheesy, cringy, and friendly demigod. This book is also the perfect balance of silly and serious. Who doesn't love a punny, yet living-on-the-edge book? Anyone who might love this book: People who read adventure, enjoy mythology and or appreciate a book that can make you laugh-out-loud and follow close-to-death experiences. Warnings: This book/series is amazing. Some of this content has violence, but NO really gory or gruesome descriptions.  Just killing the giants that try to kill them.

Pitches:

1) Pixar Pitch:
     a) Once upon a time, Loki decided that he would set sail before Midsummer on the Ship of the Dead and start Ragnarok. Everyday, Midsummer was getting closer and Loki was ready to destroy millions of innocent lives. One day, Magnus Chase and his friends decided they would stop Loki from starting Ragnarok. Because of this, they had to retrieve a drink to help Magnus beat Loki, and find Loki. Because of this, they had to kill multiple giants and nearly die in negative freezing temperatures. Until finally, they found Loki's ship and Magnus could try to beat Loki and all his allies on the ship.

2) One Word Pitch:
     a) Faith

3) The Math of my Book
     a) Trust + Norse Mythology + Survival= This Book!

  1. It is very interesting that they include things about Norse Mythology, that sets the book apart from other books. I do agree with the fact that people sometimes say 'sequels suck', but they can be a good thing, like in the series Unwind. I don't, however, think I would read this; I'm not really into the 'laugh out loud' books, and if it's a survival book, I like it to be more realistic fiction. I didn't realize you were into mythology, though, so that's cool!

  2. Wow, I loved your blog! I thought that your theme was very interesting. It was a very good theme that related very well to the rest of your blog. I was wondering how many books are in the series? I was also wondering why Loki wanted to start the world-ending war? I related to your point of view about loving cheesy, laugh-out-loud books that still have serious, sincere moments. I don't think I would want to read this book because I don't like Norse mythology or adventure books. Overall, this was a great blog!

    1. This series is technically a trilogy, though there is a "guide to Valhalla"* or something.
*Valhalla is a place in Norse Mythology where dead -selfless heroes are sent.
